Zinc bromide is mainly used as completion fluid, cementing fluid and battery electrolyte in oil drilling. 70% zinc bromide solution can be used alone with other bromides and chlorides as completion fluid of oil and gas wells. When high density mud is required, zinc bromide solution is the preferred material, since other multivalent metal ions will produce calcium carbonate or sulfate precipitation, which will affect oil and gas production.
